Game of Thrones Stage Play in the Works-George R.R.
Game of Thrones ended a few years back, but HBO has kept the series alive in the minds of fans through its prequel series House of the Dragon. Another prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is also in development. Westeros isn’t going anywhere.
There’s even a Game of Thrones stage play in the works! Author George R.R. Martin is working with a team of Broadway veterans on a play about the Tourney at Harrenhal, the fateful event that kicked off Robert’s Rebellion several years before the main events of Game of Thrones. That means we could see younger versions of characters like Ned Stark and Cersei Lannister, as well as spend a lot of time with Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
The play is currently untitled, but Martin has said that the scripts are coming along well and he is excited about the project. He also mentioned that the strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) does not affect the stage production, so it is still possible that the play could be brought to the West End.
There is no release date yet for the play, but it is good to know that it is still in the works. Fans of Game of Thrones will be eager to see how this new adaptation of the beloved series unfolds.
